Marrakech to the Agafay desert and Lake Takerkoust with lunch

    Trip from Marrakech

Overview

On your day trip to the Agafay desert, you will have the opportunity to explore amazing desert stone landscapes. The Agafay Desert is located 30 kilometers southwest of Marrakech, between the east of Lake Laker Takerkoust and the south of the High Atlas.
During our day trip to the Agafay desert from Marrakech, you will explore the preserved nature of a desert. The landscape of the Agafay desert is covered with wheat, barley and flowers. However, in summer and autumn, it looks like the real desert with its flowing dunes and the advantage of a majestic view of the snow-covered Atlas mountains. In the spring, Agafay offers wild flowers among a flora and fauna that make it a picturesque place and a wonderful desert experience.
Keep in mind that the Agafay Desert is quite tasteless compared to the most popular experience of the Sahara Desert in the Erg Chebbi Sahara or the Erg Chigaga Desert.

Our service

Your driver will pick you up at 09:00. The day trip between Marrakech and the Agafay desert will allow you to enjoy the tranquility of the countryside, Lake Takerkoust and the Agafay desert. The road is shaded by lush vegetation, olive and orange orchards and crosses the occasional town of Ait Imour, from where we will leave the road and drive through a completely different landscape of stone desert, bare plateaus, light chestnuts, Bedouin villages , oasis and high hills with panoramic views of the High Atlas. A few hours later, small vegetation points will begin to appear and, shortly thereafter, you will return to the paved road with old eucalyptus. You will reach Lake Lalla Takerkoust, built as a dam from where Marrakech consumes electricity. Through small hills, you will reach the Nfis valley crossing Berber villages and arriving at a Berber family house. You can visit the house and have lunch inside. After lunch, you will have the opportunity to walk for 2 hours and climb for an hour to visit one of the oldest villages at the foot of the largest forest in the Atlas. After the visit of the traditional olive oil presser, you will descend between the olive trees and the terraced fields until you reach the only house on the edge of the Nfis river, where you will continue your trip to Ouiragan through the forest and the traditional salt pans before heading to Asni, a small town (market on Saturday) that dominates Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa. Then you will pass through the gorges of Moulay Brahim, the valley of Ghighaya and Tahanouete before arriving in Marrakech.
